How it Works:

Dimensions

Bio-Zone commercial trays outer dimensions include 4’ x 8’, 4’ x 4’, 3’ x 6’, or 2’ x 4’. 4 Up tables fit 4 Kord Flats to be used for prorogating. The tables are specially designed, so simple trays can be easily and conveniently joined to create larger trays for rolling bench systems.

Height

Bio-Zone trays have uniquely tall sides, which enable the gardener to flush most containers and media systems commonly used in ebb and flow systems. Other trays provide only for the irrigation cycle and all growers know that bottom irrigation quickly results in salt build-up in the media.

Drain Runnels

The drain runnels in the bottom of Bio-Zone trays are deep, which ensures pots and media are not sitting in solution between irrigation cycles. The center runnel is slightly larger to enhance flow cycles, and allow the option of funneling the irrigation input to the end of the tray, opposite the drain. An advantage is flushing action is increased with adequate drainage and no flooding.

Heating Conservation

The runnels of the Bio-Zone tables allow for the installation of Hydroponic heating inside the trays. Perfect temperature delivery directly to the roots of the plant with no water BTU’s, A definite energy saving at all times of the year and far more precise control than is available in any other system. Bio-Zone tables make it easy to control root zone temperature even in hot summer months.

Root Zone Aeration

Bio-Zone runnels are the ideal location for installation of root-zone aeration. High Oxygen volumes reduce disease
onset, and disperse root effluent gasses very quickly. The air movement is further enhanced if the aeration tubing is covered with water at all times. The enhanced evaporation will cut the rate of evaporation from the growing media and reduce damage from boundary layer temperatures on top of the media.
